Project Nightfall Brings a New Look to the STEM.org Program Atlas

More than 198,000 education organization profiles, a new nighttime map, and a free way to explore what’s nearby.

We’ve just given the STEM.org Program Atlas a new look. It’s called Project Nightfall, and I’d like you to take a look around.

Open the map and you’ll see a dark landscape with gold accents, place names and organization markers. Zoom into a familiar area and the roads and neighborhoods come into view. You can pull the map up on your phone, expand it on a larger screen, or switch to satellite imagery if you want a closer look at the surroundings.

The Atlas brings together more than 198,000 education organization profiles. That gives you plenty to explore, but you don’t have to start with the whole world. If you’re in the U.S., enter your ZIP code and choose how far you’d like to search. You can also narrow the results by country or organization type.

For a parent looking for a local program, that means being able to browse nearby organizations, open their profiles and visit their websites from the same place. For a teacher planning a field trip or looking for a community connection, it offers another way to see what’s around the school.

If you’re looking specifically for STEM.org Accredited™ organizations, there’s a filter for that, too. Select it to see those locations on the map.

I’ve included screenshots and a closer look at the new features in the full article on STEM.org. You’ll find the desktop and mobile views there, along with the other map styles you can try.

The Atlas is free to browse. Start with your own neighborhood. You might find an organization you’ve driven past for years without knowing what it offers.
